Stay on target
One Punch Man may finally be settling in for another season, and it appears it could be closer than ever. We should all be thankful for more One Punch Man, especially if, as rumor has it, it could be touching down this November. Get it? Thankful? Look, it’s late, and I’m tired, and I’m just ready to stop waiting and watch more of Saitama’s adventures.
According to Mobipicker, a source has announced that production on the anime’s second season has already begun, as of March 2017. A promotional panel in the manga ran during publication that showed off Saitama with a special caption clued eagle-eyed readers off to this fact, and now fans are speculating that the show could be airing in November, with 12 or 13 possible episodes that could run for as long as an hour. Could you imagine double-length episodes?
Additional sources are quoted as saying the show could begin in spring or summer 2018 with the pre-production having begun in March, but either would be great considering it’s already been too long since we last had our fill of Saitama. Luckily, we’ve still got the manga to tide us over, and if you’ve been reading it and keeping up with the storyline, you may have picked up on a special Dragon Ball nod the manga creators were keen on placing.
The panel on the right from One Punch Man is a clear nod to a scene in Dragon Ball Z, seen on the left. But this shouldn’t be surprising. The author of One Punch Man has stated time and time again how big of a fan he is of Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama. So it just makes sense that we’d see characters getting into scenes that wouldn’t seem out of place in Dragon Ball Z, let alone entire nods to the show like these. That’s the mark of a great series, after all, when others are keen to pay homage to them.
Better get all caught up before the new season of One Punch Man does begin, so you can spot nods like those and know everything there is to know when the new episodes air. That way you can gloat about it to your friends while they’re just getting started, and that’s always fun to do with a new season and series.
