Nintendo has announced that it will air a special Treehouse Live event on January 13 that will give viewers an in-depth look at the launch games for the Nintendo Switch. The stream will begin at 9:30 am EST on the company’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
As you may know, Nintendo will have a Switch-centric Nintendo Direct on January 12. During that time, it is expected that we’ll learn more about the Switch’s hardware capabilities, its price, accessories, and its exactly launch date. It is also expect that games will be announced during this Nintendo Direct, but it appears that the Treehouse Live stream will go more in-depth about these titles.

We don’t know for sure what games will be shown during the stream, but it would be reasonable to assume that one of them will be the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. During the Switch reveal trailer, we also saw brief glimpses of games like Splatoon and a new Super Mario Bros. We’ll hopefully see what those games (and others) are all about during the Treehouse event.
Nintendo will be bringing the Switch to the people to get the word out about its upcoming console/handheld hybrid. The Switch Preview Tour starts on January 13 in New York City and will come to several other big cities across North America. Folks will also get a chance to try out the Switch at PAX South, PAX East, and at SXSW. You can read more details about the tour here.
Nintendo appears to be cutting it close when it comes to advertising the Switch before its reported March launch. It is unclear why the company waited until the proverbial last minute to show off the system, but I guess we should be happy that months of rumors and speculation will soon come to an end. At least, we can hope that will be the case.
