Solve the NES Classic’s Short Controller Problem With the 8bitdo Wireless Adapter | Games |

For those who actually managed to get one of the notoriously under stocked units, the NES Classic Edition is a great way to replay some of the Nintendo Entertainment System’s most memorable titles. However, there is one glaring flaw with the product: its painfully short 30-inch cable. We all played too close to the TV back in the day, but now that we have large HDTVs, having your face insanely close to the TV isn’t necessary. Thankfully, our friends over at 8Bitdo have created an elegant and modern solution to this problem thanks to their new Retro Receiver.

By plugging the Bluetooth-enabled Retro Receiver dongle into their NES Classic Edition, users will be able to play wirelessly. The dongle can be paired to play with 8Bitdo’s own NES30 controller, but it is also compatible with other controllers from the company. The dongle can also be paired with the Wiimote, Wii U Pro controller, and the DualShock controllers for PS3 and PS4. The Retro Receiver can also be used to play games on PC (perfect for those who have a collection of emulated titles).

The Retro Receiver also fixes one of the other design flaws of the NES mini. Users can easily access the NES Classic Edition’s main menu through the controller instead of having to press the reset button on the console. On top of that, a second receiver can be plugged into the console for some classic couch co-op action with friends and family.

You can pick up 8Bitdo’s Retro Receiver over on Amazon for $40. The dongle is admittedly on the pricey side, but it is still much cheaper than some of the exorbitant prices that the NES Classic Edition is currently going for on eBay.
