Avengers, assemble! We’re going to need your help building the new S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier set from Lego. It’s been the rumored for months, and now it’s finally been revealed.
The Helicarrier is positively enormous. It measures nearly three feet long, 17 inches wide, and is almost a foot high at its highest point. Even though that already makes it one of the most massive Lego sets ever released, they managed to make it look even larger than it really is.
Tiny Quinjets, fighter jets, forklifts and a slew of microfigs — including Nick Fury, Captain America, Iron Man, and Hawkeye — help complete the illusion. Not that the Helicarrier needs any help. The 2,996 piece set will likely dwarf any other Lego sets you have in your collection.
You get minifigs of those four fellows, too, as well as Black Widow and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill. There’s even a special stand with the S.H.I.E.L.D. eagle emblem to display them all on.
Both runway sections can be removed, allowing you to stage scenes on the bridge and explore the inner workings of the Helicarrier. Here’s the kicker. As big and bad as this thing already is, you can (fairly) easily make it even more of a showstopper. Lego has designed it to work with their Power Functions light and motor kits. Add them on, and you’ve got spinning rotors and a nice glow effect to finish off the build.
With an age recommendation of 16-plus and a $349 price tag, the Helicarrier is right up there in Death Star territory. It’s also a Lego exclusive (no real surprise there), so you’ll have to visit your nearest Lego store or purchase it from their online shop when it goes on sale this March.
