所有节日都化身为“拜物教节日”的今天，Shop to be a holic can‘t be a one-man show。换言之，电商社会化、社交化是大势所趋。跟“买买买”相关的东西天然是很好的社交话题，只是“淘宝”之前一直做得不太好，不过，愿望一直都在，“I want to be social BADLY.”
The human brain might be confused by large numbers and fundamentally unable to grasp the massive scale of the universe, but it’s great at recognizing when something is wrong with a face. This leads to what is commonly known as the uncanny valley, a tendency for almost-realistic CGI faces to end up looking creepy–like there’s something just a little off about them. One of the main components of this is the eyes, which are quite hard to get right. Disney thinks it has that figured out, and it made a video with lots of eyeballs to prove it.
There’s a new app on the market aimed at trying to help you wake up in the morning, but rather than a blaring tone, Wakie forces you to have a minute-long phone conversation. The logic behind the wake-up process here isn’t terrible, since you’re more likely to be fully awake after a short conversation than you would be if you just reached out to hit snooze. Since most people don’t have a person in their lives that will call them on the phone every single morning at 7AM to have this conversation, the Wakie app exists to pair you up with a totally random stranger instead.
Aside from the ESA dropping the Philae lander onto the back of a moving comet as if we were living in a Bruce Willis movie, New Horizons is the most exciting thing happening in space anytime soon. Next year, the New Horizons probe will reach Pluto, a space rock that will immediately reveal someone’s age depending on whether or not they refer to it as a planet. It launched back in January of 2006, and now nearly nine years later, it has woken up, and is ready to make its final push to Pluto.
