Blizzard has a huge success in Hearthstone, an online, digital CCG made by a small internal team — something unusual for the developer, considering its other properties have substantially more people working on them. Despite the smaller team and free-to-play stigma, Hearthstone has made it onto many mobile devices and computers, and into many hearts.

Thanks to the large fan base and arguably simplistic visual design of, essentially, cards on a mat, Hearthstone will now make it into the part of your heart from where longing originates thanks to these gorgeous Game Boy demakes.

The demakes, crafted by the aptly named Gameboydemakes, reimagines Hearthstone as something you’d play in the backseat of your parents’ car while driving across the country during a family trip.

As you can see from above, Hearthstone obviously works as a demake. Of course, controlling the game with a tap of your finger or the precision of a mouse cursor is much better than a four directional D-pad. Though the demake is pretty, the game portion of it is a little hard to discern — even, I find, if you can identify the cards solely based on their stats.

Gameboydemakes also created some standalone demade cards, as well as providing some GIFs of how the game would look in action, seen below.

To check out a few more GIFs of the demake, head on over to Gameboydemakes’ Tumblr, just don’t be mad that this is only a conceptual rendering and not an actual game you can play.
